Communicating with Diverse Populations: How to use translated materials, health literacy techniques and other media to address patient language barriers.
This Peer Learning Network will explore how health care organizations can address language and literacy barriers posed by diverse patient populations. Topics for discussion may include selecting and working with translators/translation companies; customizing translated written materials for specific communities and patient populations; assessing the health literacy needs of your patients, and your organization's capacity to meet those needs; choosing or developing literacy-appropriate written matierals; using video, computers, texting and other social media to reach diverse populations. Participants will play a role in determining the discussion agenda through the course of the network.
