Moderators

Are you a leader in cross cultural health care? Do you enjoy helping people make connections and learn from each other? We're looking for moderators for our Communities of Practice and Peer Learning Networks. This is a great way to deepen your involvement in advancing the field, share your expertise, and network with others.


Peer Learning Network moderator responsibilities:

•    Launch discussion on an email-based listserv discussion group
•    Review and approve postings to the listserv during the start-up phase
•    Help group choose topics to address
•    Contribute your own thoughts and expertise to the discussion as appropriate
•    Identify group members to present case studies, lessons learned, and other resources.
•    Encourage participation of all members of the group
•    Ensure a courteous and supportive environment.

 

Community of Practice moderator responsibilities:

Plan online meetings:
•    With the group, develop a list of discussion topics and potential presenters.
•    Contact the designated presenter before each meeting, work out presentation plan
•    Ask one participant to be the notetaker for each meeting.
   
Facilitate each monthly one-hour call:
•    Welcome the participants, conduct a brief check-in/deal with housekeeping
•    Introduce the designated presenter, and keep them on schedule
•    Moderate the subsequent discussion
•    Contribute your own thoughts and expertise to the discussion as appropriate
•    Encourage participation of all members of the group

Monitor the listserv discussion:
•    As needed, comment on issues that arise, stimulate discussion, and ensure a courteous and supportive environment.

Communicate with a broader audience:
•    As the moderator, you are invited to make contributions to the DiversityRx expert blogs on issues, resources or other topics that come up in the group you are moderating
•    You are also invited to make contributions to the group’s wiki, which will document the knowledge developed over the course of the year

There is an honoraria for the CoP moderator position.
