CLAS Managers

Community of Practice #4

“Implementation, management, and policy for CLAS/diversity managers in health care organizations”

This Community of Practice will offer a supportive and peer-learning oriented environment to explore the many challenges faces by individuals with lead responsibility for implementing and managing CLAS/diversity programs and policies at patient-serving health care institutions.

Discussion topics may include the roles and responsibilities of CLAS/diversity managers, and what authority they have in their respective organizations; financial and policy support from institutional management for CLAS/disparity activities; the challenge of managing a wide-range of CLAS/diversity activities; getting clinical and administrative staff support for CLAS activities; sharing good practices, program ideas and lessons learned. Participants will play a key role in developing the discussion agenda over the course of the project.

This Community of Practice started in December 2009 with 14 participants from around the country, and will meet for 7 months. The group will produce a public resource of information collected and discussed during meetings -- we will post a link here when the resource is available.
