An Overview of Electronic Posters (or E-posters)
For the first time, the Quality Health Care for Culturally Diverse Populations conference is introducing electronic posters as part of the program. We anticipate 20-25 posters will be presented in this new format.
What are electronic posters?
Electronic posters (E-posters) are PPT documents produced by the authors before the conference. The e-poster includes text, figures and images, just as in traditional paper posters or PPT presentations.
Why the addition of electronic posters?
For the benefit of the participants
As the conference has grown, the number of sessions and events taking place simultaneously has increased, as has the number of high quality abstracts being submitted. The conference organizers would like to provide a presentation opportunity for as many good programs as possible, within the constraints of time and space.
Also, the number of standard paper posters has increased to 50, making it difficult to view everything that one would wish to see. Even if the paper posters are displayed for the entire day, the authors are only available for a limited period of time.
For the benefit of the authors
The preparation, printing, transporting and display of a paper poster is often an expensive and time-consuming process. Electronic posters do not get lost or stolen while being transported to the conference.
In addition, authors can benefit from the input of many more participants and colleagues than those who can physically attend a session.
When can I view the E-posters?
The E-posters will be available for viewing from the conference website (www.diversityRxconference.org/E-posters during and after the conference (some may be available for viewing before the conference). During the conference, you can view them from your own computer with an internet connection, or use one of the computers located in the Tech Salon (Tuesday, September 23: 4:15-6:00pm).
What about chatting with the author?
Conference attendees can communicate with the poster presenters by sending emails to the address listed in the abstract and on the PPT presentation. Presenters can be emailed during and after the conference.
Some presenters will also be available at the Tech Salon (date and time), at the E-Poster corner of the room. You can meet and talk to them there.
You can also set up your own face-to-face meeting with authors by contacting them before the conference to set up a meeting. Contact details are available on their abstract.
Are electronic posters considered publications?
No, electronic posters are only a new media to present work during a live event. Electronic posters, as paper posters, are not considered a pre-publication, nor are they reviewed or citable.
Can participants copy electronic posters?
No, electronic posters cannot be printed, copied or emailed from the website. If you wish to get a copy of an electronic poster, you may contact the author and ask for a copy.
