Welcome to the home of the Sixth National Conference on Quality Health Care for Culturally Diverse Populations!  The conference will be held September 21-24, 2008 in Minneapolis, MN, USA.

This conference, which has been held biennially since 1998, is one of the most respected and well-supported conferences on cultural competence and health disparities reduction in the United States. Co-produced by the Drexel University Center for Health Equality, Resources for Cross Cultural Health Care, and the USDHHS Office of Minority Health, this meeting attracts over 600 attendees from North America and around the world. It features over 150 presentations during pre-conference intensive training sessions, plenary panels, roundtable sessions, concurrent workshops, a film festival and a resource center with exhibits and poster presentations.

We're very excited to be able to hold the 2008 conference in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, a region that has a long tradition of welcoming refugees and immigrants, and is home to many innovative programs and policies for delivering healthcare in culturally and linguistically appropriate ways.

The theme for the Sixth National Conference will be “Partnerships for the future: Supporting practitioners and advancing the field through innovation, policy and research.” Starting with a look at the national and global trends in health care and immigration, the conference will use plenary sessions, workshops and moderated dialogues with conference participants to:

  • Address the needs and concerns that affect day-to-day practice of culturally appropriate care at the clinical, organizational and community level
  • Develop a vision for advancing the field
  • Continue the integration of cultural competence/disparity reduction in mainstream health care priorities.

Registration is now open, and this website will be continually updated with information about speakers, special events, and opportunities for participant networking. We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
